We've just had an Event......Call the On-Call Coordinator
It may be an accident, it may be a close call, it may be the death or injury of a friend or co-worker, it may be a natural disaster in your area...Call the On-Call Coordinator.
An On-Call Coordinator is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The On-Call Coordinator you will reach is an active, fellow Air Traffic Controller who will understand language and terms only air traffic controllers speak.
Call or text 1-202-505-CISM or 1-202-505-2476. You will be transferred into the voice mailbox of the On-Call Coordinator and given the opportunity to leave a message containing your name, facility, contact number, and brief details of the situation.
Because the On-Call Coordinator is an ACTIVE Air Traffic Controller, they may be staffing a control position at the time you call. The Coordinator checks this voice mailbox regularly during breaks and off duty hours. They will return your call as soon as they get the message.
Please call regardless of whether you believe your facility needs formal assistance. Much of our work with controllers takes place during brief phone conversations and then our work is done. You don't have to feel affected by an event to call. Your notification allows us to be aware of an event and to ensure that everyone involved is OK. If an event is of a size and scale that multiple controllers are affected, we have peer (controllers) debriefers that can travel to your facility to meet with your group.
A call to the On-Call Coordinator does not affect the medicals of either yourself, or anyone else involved in the event. Calls to the CISM Coordinator, telephone discussions with the Coordinator, or even a formal meeting with a CISM peer is NOT A REPORTABLE EVENT for anyone's medical. Most importantly, this call is confidential.
Again, the number to call or text is 1-202-505-CISM or 1-202-505-2476.
