CISM SERVICES

The NATCA CISM Team supports our nation's air traffic controllers with the following confidential services:

One-on-One Peer Support

Very often done over the phone, this is a conversation with a CISM Team member (Peer Debriefer) designed to provide support for affected individuals after a critical incident.

Defusing:

This is similar to a "One-on-One" conversation but is done using a group format and within hours of the critical incident. This can also be accomplished via telephone.

Critical Incident Stress Debriefing's (CISD's):

This is a group process including those directly involved in a critical incident. This is a highly structured discussion designed to facilitate a person's ability to process the event. The debriefing is facilitated by the Peer Debriefer with the aid of a mental health professional from the local community.

Mental Health Professional:

Anybody can arrange to speak either in person or over the phone to a licensed clinician. Contact your On-Call Coordinator for the best way to set this up.
